[AusNOG] DataCentre Performance During Sydney Power Outage

I read that power was out in all of Ultimo, which I would have presumed
would affect the Optus facility. Can anyone confirm?

I've been in the Optus facility when the power has gone out once before, it
was a little eerie being in darkness with nothing but fan noise and little
flashing LED's everywhere J Would have been eerier had there not been the
noise and LED's though!

Subject: [AusNOG] DataCentre Performance During Sydney Power Outage

Hey all,

Would some people like to report on the performance of any Sydney City DC's
that were effected during the outage in Sydney yesterday?

I can think of some that might have been effected by the outage.

Soul in Kent St

PowerTel in Clarence St

Pacnet in Bond St

Key Telstra exchanges like Pitt St, Kent St?

I know BrennanIT's DC went offline due to "Diesel generator pump failures"

As far as I know Globalswitch, MCI/Verizon, Optus were not effected on
Pyrmont - or they did very well.

It would be interesting to know what DC's were and weren't affected, and how
they coped.

Maybe this is a good up-sell time for people who operate colo in the major
DC's.
