After reading through APNIC's new proposed fees and asking a maths genius at
work to do the calculation for me, I have concluded that APNIC's new fee
stucture will save the company I work for around $600 a year.

Current rate - Small - $3,169.00 AUD/year.
New Rate - based on 1,280 IP's - $2,513.48 AUD/year

Are any other smaller providers out there looking happily at this pricing? I
assume it is mostly the larger carriers who already charge for IP
allocations (such as xDSL providers) who are going to get stung by this new
pricing per-IP?

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: New APNIC Member Fee Schedule from 2010
_______________________________________________________________________

In 2008, the Executive Council (EC) of APNIC commissioned KPMG
to perform a study on APNIC Fees and make recommendations
on appropriate fee mechanisms for APNIC to adopt. The KPMG report
and a response to its recommendations was announced by the EC during
the APNIC Member Meeting held in February 2009 in Manila,
the Philippines.

In April 2009 the APNIC EC announced a draft fee schedule that
would implement KPMG's recommendations and called for comments on
this proposal. In total, 11 responses were received to this call.
In May 2009, the APNIC EC considered these comments and made
adjustments accordingly to the proposed fee schedule.

In accordance with the EC's responsibilities and powers under the
APNIC By-laws, the EC has now adopted a revised Member Fee Schedule.
The new schedule is available at:

  http://www.apnic.net/news/new-apnic-member-fee-schedule-from-2010

The new schedule will take effect from 1 January 2010. For
existing APNIC members, it will apply from the date of
membership renewal (on or after 1 January 2010) and existing
fee structure provisions (including per address fees) will remain
in effect until that time.
